Writing a cover letter is a piece of cake when you follow certain simple rules. We have been learning these rules in a series of articles. And as the last article in the series we will be looking at how important it is to edit your cover letter.
Once you are done writing your cover letter, you must be able to edit it as well. While editing you must have certain things in mind to make sure that your cover letter, covers up all the required information you need your interviewer to know.
Though this could be a tedious process, we have put together a small check list for you to be handy while editing your cover letter.
Spelling errors: The last thing you want someone to find in your resume is a stupid spelling mistake. So while writing, make sure you write them correctly. Sometimes the first two letters of a word could be written in capital. This just conveys to the readers the wrong impression that you are irresponsible. Hence make sure you check twice for spellings.
Check for Grammatical errors: Your resume must be spotless, to get the job right away. For this you can use the help of various software to check the grammar and find better words to replace the context of your sentence.
Ask for an opinion: Ask your friends or any of your family members for a second opinion on the cover letter. Let us assume that you are writing a cover letter for the past two hours, while someone else takes a look at the cover letter, they will have a fresh take on your cover letter and point out the mistakes in the cover letter. This helps you edit your cover letter faster.
But remember to make the changes that does not take away the originality of your content. By the end of the day, it is your cover letter that the interviewer is going to read and hire you.
Once you are done writing your cover letter, take a deep breath and send it to the right job position. And wait for a call back should not take long, if you have followed all the rules. Good luck!
