The impact of COVID19 on the job market continues in 2021 as well. The unemployment rates are at an all-time high. We at Resume Writer India, to ensure that we do our part in helping working professionals achieve success, guide them in creating a resume that works well for them in the employment market. We’ve over the years created thousands of resumes and we would like to compile some of the top aspects that make a resume successful. Being the industry for this long, we have a deep understanding on what the hiring managers and recruiters look for while screening a resume.
When drafting a resume, your objective should focus on two aspects.
These two are the most crucial aspects when it comes to your resume getting through the initial rounds of screening and helping you reach the interviewer’s desk. While drafting a resume, keep these indicators in mind.
Make an Impact:
It does not mean reducing the word usage. If you have the feeling that the resume is in excess of two pages and you do not have substantial data to justify the additional pages on your resume, you must consider reducing it. Try and keep your resume, confined to two pages. Look for redundant data, look out for aspects that take away the real estate on your resume, and weigh its strength. If you feel that there are important data points that is being overshadowed due to the redundant data, you should consider getting it off the CV. Focus on the resume title, achievements, impact, etc. Quality should be your focus and not quantity.
Validate:
Any good statement is not good enough unless validated and numbers are your friend. A number value against your claims would not only make it easy to understand but it also gives you the much-needed credibility factor. Readers believe in your statements and claims. These components can be compiled and presented as Key Result Areas, showcase areas where you have created impact and validate it. You could consider using bullets in this segment.
Showcase:
Showcase anything and everything that sets you apart from another applicant. Look out for instances in your career path where you have showcased leadership qualities or as much as working directly with the leadership team is a good skill to show because not everyone out there has the opportunity to work alongside the leadership team.
Showcase Again:
Multi-tasking is a mandatory skill in most roles today, though desired, it’s a hard-to-find skill among applicants. If you are someone who has worn multiple hats in your previous role or gone beyond the call of duty to get something done, go ahead and showcase it. Any employer who looks at it in the right perspective are sure to be impressed with these qualities.
It’s true that all of us out there have been affected by the present scenario, but it is important that we understand that there are things that are still within our control. Finding a new job in the present scenario can lead to demotivation because of the increase in number of applicants, but if done the right way, you would be right on top of the crowd.
